Evaluation of Keywords for an AdSense Oriented Website

Evaluation of Keywords for an AdSense Oriented Website Evaluation of Keywords for an AdSense Oriented Website
By F. Terrence Markle
The Google AdSense movement is gaining momentum every day. The
driving force in the system is Google's AdWords ads. The AdSense
program enables website owners to monetize their site and make
additional income.
Although Google has made it simple and easy to implement AdSense on
your website, you have to spend your time and effort to develop a
central theme and the supporting content-rich web pages for your
website. You should develop your website around a specific keyword
phrase that has a high potential to monetize your website through
AdSense. The content and theme of your website should be centered
around the keyword phrase that you are targeting.
AdSense Factor
--------------
Refer to my article on The AdSense Factor for an overview on
monetizing your website with AdSense at:
http://www.QuikSystems.com/Article/The-Adsense-Factor.htm
Objective
---------
The purpose of this report is to show you one method that I use to
evaluate a keyword phrase relative to other keyword phrases for use
in an AdSense oriented website. It is not intended to show you how
to select a list of keyword themes for evaluation. That topic is
covered adequately in many different other ebooks and reports. As a
valuable resource, I use the following keyword research tool to help
me locate extremely profitable keyword phrases waiting for AdSense
content or niche products:
http://www.QuikSystems.com/adsense/sn.htm
Example
-------
The following example illustrates the potential ranking of keyword-
oriented websites based on keyword phrases previously selected by me
(or you) for consideration as a keyword-oriented AdSense website.
You must always remember there is no one best method to determine
the potential profitability or viability of any specific keyword
phrase when building a website geared towards AdSense monetization.
It takes careful and methodical research followed by in-depth
testing.
The terms used in this example for a specific keyword phrase are:
* Searches = number of searches made by search engine users for a
specific keyword phrase in the previous month as determined by
Overture at http://www.Overture.com
* Top CPC = the current maximum bid (cost per click) by an
advertiser on Overture for a specific keyword phrase
* Competition Pages = the number of web pages indexed by
Google when you perform a search for a specific keyword phrase
on Google's search engine
* Competitive Ratio = Competition Pages / Searches
* Value Index = Competitive Ratio / Top CPC
Keyword Phrase Searches Top Competition Comp Value

                                  CPC Pages Ratio Index

-------------- -------- ----- ---------- ----- -----

hardwood floor 167,461 $3.02 4,010,000 23.9 7.9

bridal registry 102,568 $4.68 2,210,000 21.5 4.6

auto towing 109,893 $0.51 4,020,000 36.6 71.7

commodity broker 126,552 $2.71 1,890,000 14.9 5.5

hair replacement 105,996 $1.17 13,500,000 127.4 108.9

adjustable bed 100,295 $3.97 2,750,000 27.4 6.9

consolidate debt 105,651 $4.57 6,320,000 59.8 13.1

credit card debt 171,737 $5.00 17,800,000 103.6 20.7

health insurance quote 161,322 $3.00 13,600,000 84.3 28.1

criminal lawyer 165,156 $4.10 22,500,000 136.2 33.2

Note: Information obtained for this evaluation in November, 2005 can
be found in the following excellent websites:
* Overture: http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/rc/srch/ (see Keyword
Selector Tool and View Bids Tool)
* NicheBOT: http://www.NicheBOT.com
The guidelines to look for in building an AdSense-oriented keyword
phrase website includes the following items:
* You need the ability or resource to generate fresh quality
content centered around the central theme of your website on a
regular basis.
* You want a relatively high amount of targeted traffic (visitors
to your website)
* You want to minimize when possible the number of competing
websites
* You would like to have your website optimized for high-paying
AdSense ads
Analysis and Evaluation
-----------------------
First, let's assume that you have the ability and desire to generate
fresh quality content for any of the keyword phrases on the list of
potential keyword phrases under consideration. This can be done by
writing your own articles, hiring someone to write the articles for
you or using information generated by other individuals that can be
freely utilized without copyright infringement.
Second, I have purposely selected keyword phrases in my initial
search that had searches exceeding 100,000 in the most recent
month. There is no magic number to use as the minimum search
amount. However, the probability decreases in being able to get a
portion of the traffic to visit your website as the number of
monthly searches decreases. Search engine optimization may play a
vital role in generating traffic to your website. If you like,
raise the number to 200,000 or higher and see what results you
obtain. Keep in mind that at some point the number of available
keyword phrases decrease as the minimum search volume requirement is
raised. It is a matter of trial-and-error research to find your
desired search number.
Third, the competition tends to increase for the more popular
keyword phrases. The popular keywords usually have a lot of AdSense-
oriented web pages that are trying to "win the AdSense clicks" of a
limited number of visitors searching for quality content on a
specific keyword phrase. This competition is usually expressed as
the "competitive ratio." It indicates the number of indexed web
pages that exist for each search by a search engine user for a
specific keyword phrase. The ratio increases as the competition for
a keyword phrase increases assuming a steady level of visitor
searches. Not every web page indexed for a specific keyword phrase
is trying to get AdSense clicks. However, the non-AdSense oriented
web pages are still competing for the search engine visitors.
Fourth, the top bid price (or cost per click) paid by the individual
CPC advertiser (i.e., the amount paid by the advertiser to the
search engine for every click on their search engine ad) also tends
to increase as the popularity of a keyword phrase increases. As an
AdSense oriented website publisher, you want to maximize the CPC
value of the AdSense ads that are displayed on your content theme
website. As a side note, you would want to minimize (or optimize)
your CPC value if you were searching for a keyword phrase centered
around a product of service you wanted to advertise on Google AdWords.
Using the above guidelines, I have classified the list of keyword
phrases as follows (in order of preference as a keyword phrase to
design an AdSense oriented website around):
Keyword Phrase Top Competitive Value

                           CPC Ratio Index

                           Rank Rank Rank

---------------------- ---- ----------- -----

bridal registry 2 2 1

commodity broker 8 1 2

adjustable bed 5 4 3

hardwood floor 6 3 4

consolidate debt 3 6 5

credit card debt 1 5 6

health insurance quote 7 7 7

criminal lawyer 4 10 8

auto towing 10 5 9

hair replacement 9 9 10

From this list of rankings for each keyword phrase, I would probably
select "bridal registry" as my first choice and "commodity broker"
as my second choice. In a similar manner, I would probably put
"hair replacement" as my last choice and "auto towing" as the next
to last choice.
Everything boils down to how comfortable you personally feel about
this ranking system or your own ranking system. I use a ranking
system that tries to remove the subjective "guess work" and thereby
focus on the objective benefits of each keyword phrase.
I hope this methodology has value to you in your selection and
utilization of keyword phrases in your own AdSense oriented
websites. The primary objective is to select a keyword phrase that
you can use to build a quality and content-rich monetized AdSense
website.

12 Common Mistakes to Avoid While Using AdSense

12 Common Mistakes to Avoid While Using AdSense 12 Common Mistakes to Avoid While Using AdSense
By Rhonda Holmes
AdSense Mistakes #1: Putting The Cart Before The Horse
Many people over-think the way they use a fairly simple system in this day and age, and as a result make a mess of things. Because these systems are often new, people assume that they will naturally be complicated and "too different", and will require special knowledge, even when this is not the case. When using AdSense this often leads to a situation where the person thinks "AdSense" while writing content - rather than thinking "content".
Probably all of us have read sites which seem to have been designed to trigger AdSense. The content on these sites reads in a horribly forced way and sounds like it has been written around the keywords. Half of the time - let's say the keyword is "Swarovski crystals" - the content will be poor and over-stuffed with keywords. The writer might as well just type "banana banana banana Swarovski crystals banana" for all the effort it takes to crowbar in a keyword. But if you are writing about Swarovski crystals, it's more or less impossible not to use the phrase anyway.
Indeed, it could be said that one of the keywords in this article is "keyword" - and because the article is about keywords, it has been used repeatedly without even trying. Pick your subject, think about it in a logical way, and you will see that obsessing about such a detail is not helpful for your purposes. Why overcomplicate a really very simple system? It just isn't necessary.
AdSense Mistakes #2: Trying To Trick Google
Hands up everyone whose mom or dad used to say to them: "If you had brains you'd be dangerous". Most of us? Or is that just my mom? Anyway, the point of the phrase, such as I understand it, is that some people in trying to be devious just reveal how little they know, and if they played it straight when they needed to, they'd get a lot further. This is something that people do a lot when it comes to AdSense.
An unbelievably large number of people make the mistake of trying to trick Google on a program that has been designed by Google. Now, we're talking about one of the most powerful and well-known companies in the world. Do you think they've got there by being stupid? Don't you think that when they were designing the systems that have made them so successful, they might have planned for people who would seek to exploit loopholes? You're not going to pull the wool over their eyes, and if you try to they're not going to take it lying down.
Your best chance of AdSense success is to have a good site, as simplistic as that may sound. What ads do you think are going to get the most clicks? The ones that are on sites with a high Google ranking because the content is worth reading, or the ones that are hosted by someone who has thought more about how he is going to trick Google into giving him more money? Surely the answer is simple?
AdSense Mistakes #3: Clicking Your Own Ads
Have you heard the phrase "self-praise is no recommendation"? Well, whether or not you have, it's true. If you are intent on becoming President or Prime Minister, then you are not going to get very far by wandering the streets saying "I'm amazing! Vote for me! Ask me about how fantastic I am - you'll be stunned by what a good account I give of myself!".
By the same token, you are not going to make much money on AdSense by consistently clicking your own ads. This has less to do with the fact that it takes a lot of clicks to make any real money, and more to do with the fact that Google are not stupid. You're not going to get any money from clicking your own ad - Google knows where the clicks are coming from and it will rule out any that you make for yourself.
Now, there is a difference between inadvertently clicking on your own ad - or trying it just to see what will happen - and consistently and regularly clicking on it. In the first case, Google doesn't bother much about it because such things can happen by accident or be put down to curiosity. But if you try to game them by repeated clicking on your ad, they will know - and not only will they not pay you, they will ban you.
There is a double punishment for anyone who tries to hoodwink the system in this way, which makes it doubly stupid to even try. Firstly, you waste a lot of your own time for no gain at all. Secondly, you won't be allowed to use the service anymore. So it's not worth trying to see if you can do it - do you think they're about to hand out free money to everyone?
AdSense Mistakes #4: Plagiarising Content
If you know a little bit about AdSense, then you will know that content which people want to read will attract the most clicks. It's just common sense. Many people, aware of this fact, will make a logical leap that can get them into trouble - and it's often impossible to have any sympathy for them when they do it.
You want readable content on your site, of course. That's how it works. But a staggering number of people labor under the impression that if they can't write it themselves, the best idea is to take it from somewhere they know it will be read. The idea is as follows: "I'm no writer, but this guy is really good. I'll use his content on my site, people will read it, and I'll get more clicks!".
The first thing wrong with this assumption is nothing to do with legality or morality. For one thing, it may get read a lot on one site, but that has a lot to do with placement and existing readers. Just placing it on your site won't immediately bring people in. Secondly, and this has a lot to do with legality, it is breach of copyright. You're not just breaking the law, you're doing it inefficiently.
It cannot be said often enough - you stand and fall on your own content. You might love that article on another site, but if you do, then you are better off linking to it and explaining why you love it. It's more honest and it won't get you into trouble. Write your own content, and if you really are an awful writer, pay someone else to do it - freelancers have surprisingly reasonable rates.
AdSense Mistakes #5: "More Is Always Better!"
If you don't buy a ticket, you won't win the lottery - well, that much is true. But this of course does not mean that you will win the lottery if you buy a hundred tickets. More to the point, here's another conundrum - if you ask one person out on a date, they might well say no, but this doesn't mean that you should spread your chances and ask twenty people out.
Why is this? Well, in the second case, the impression that you give is that you're not particularly fussy who you go out with, as long as someone says "yes". Someone might, by the law of averages. But if they find out that you also asked another nineteen people, they aren't going to be thrilled. In fact, by the time you get to person number #14, the chances are that they'll have heard just how desperate you are.
What does this have to do with AdSense? Well, quite a lot, surprisingly. If you paste AdSense units all over your webpage, you might think that one of them has to get clicked. But the fact of the matter is that people visiting your site will think "Would you look at how many ads there are here? I can't find any content - this is just an ad farm!". It's spam, and any clicks you do get will also have less value.
Favor quality over quantity. You may think that you're increasing your chances of making some cash by offering more opportunities, but if you look desperate, you're not going to get the quality you are after. You might get a date, but it will be with someone equally unfussy and the relationship won't be very satisfactory.
AdSense Mistakes #6: "If I Like It, They Will Too!"
One of the foremost rules of real estate and property development is as follows: Develop for the market and not for yourself. To take an extreme example, you might really love Justin Bieber. You might think "I'd definitely buy a house that had a huge picture of Justin Bieber on the wall, one that was impossible to remove or paint over!". But you're selling the house, not buying it, so what you like doesn't matter.
That's not meant to sound callous, simply to illustrate a point about how you make money. What you think is worth buying is not the important aspect when you're trying to sell. To maximise your chances of selling something, you have to give it mass appeal. Too many people get emotionally attached to developing a house for sale and make it something they'd buy, without thinking about the market.
The same goes for monetising a website. You might really like a particular niche - it can have a particular emotional attachment for you and you will find it easy to write enthusiastically about. Placing ads on that kind of content might well attract a small number of clicks from people who are equally enthusiastic about the subject - but it will not bring in much in the way of traffic.
This does not mean that you should refrain from setting up a website about a subject that enthrals you. Just don't expect it to be your money maker, and if you want to make big money you should look to develop a site which will have mass appeal and will attract clicks. Any money you make from the more obscure niche that you love is a bonus, because you like the subject matter anyway.
AdSense Mistakes #7: "If Everyone Likes It, I'm In The Money"
Just as it is a bad idea to run a website for AdSense purposes and make it about an unpopular niche, the reverse can be similarly true. Now, there is an aspect of balance to be considered here. Certainly, you want to make your website attractive, and having a popular topic for it is important. No-one should try to tell you "that's been done, try something else". But there is more to it than that.
If you are looking to "exploit" a niche, consider exactly how popular the niche is. If it's a fundamentally "limited" niche, then it will not bring in much traffic. On the other hand, if it is a spectacularly popular niche, there is the chance that your site will get lost in the churn of so many sites about the same subject, and you'll lose out to more expensive, more established sites.
This makes for a difficult decision. How popular is "too popular"? That's a value judgement and it varies from niche to niche. But if there are already twenty well established sites on the subject you want to write about, you're going to have the mother of all battles on your hands just to get noticed. On the other hand, looking for something no-one has already done doesn't leave you much space.
What you can look to do is bring a unique slant to the subject, such as geographically localising it. There are lots of sites about, for example, herbal medicine. What you might consider doing is taking a local approach by talking about herbal medicine in a specific locality. Equally, you might take a more nuanced approach by making it about the pros and the cons of herbal medicine, where many sites talk all about the pros.
AdSense Mistakes #8: Too Little Content
It cannot be said too often to people looking to make the best of their AdSense website - content is king. The number of websites you will see with uninspiring content can lead you to assume that content takes a back seat to optimization, but the fact of the matter is that the majority of those sites won't be doing much business.
It is galling for many people to hear this, but unless you go for good content, you're not likely to get very far with an AdSense website. The skills of optimization and good writing are not necessarily ones that go hand in hand - you may be brilliant at creating and tweaking websites but unable to string a sentence together, or you might be a witty, intelligent writer who can't tell his URL from his SEO.
The regrettable fact for many people is that no matter how difficult it is, you really want to have good and plentiful content on your site - or no-one's going to want to read it. If you can't write to save yourself you have two choices - learn to write better, or find someone who can. The idea of paying someone to write your content may seem like unnecessary expense to some, and like cheating to others - but in the end you have to provide what readers want, or fail.
Many sites fail to reach their potential because the creator of the site thinks they can get away with skimping on the content. You can't. Do what it takes to get good, original content on your site, and you'll be a lot better off, even if you do have to factor in payment to a good copy writer.
AdSense Mistakes #9: "It's About Content, Forget The Keywords!"
Now, for all that has been said about writing to your subject and providing interesting content, there should be no confusion on the matter of keywords. They are certainly important, and outright ignoring them is not going to get anyone very far in terms of AdSense clicks. The question of balance is an important one here, and too many people make the mistake of ignoring one thing to serve another.
The question "content or keywords" is a red herring. Ignore content and you will find that few people read the site even though the keywords have got them there. Ignore keywords and they won't ever get to the site to read the content that might have been well-written and thought-provoking, but failed to grab Google's attention.
It's not impossible to write good content and hit the keywords at the same time. It's more difficult than focusing on one or the other, but that's why there is a higher pay-off for managing it. It may be quicker to knock out a keyword-laden site or to write what comes into your head, but you have to put something in to get something out.
Practise writing to your subject and reading over your content to make sure that you aren't ignoring keywords. After a while it begins to come naturally, as you will structure sentences to emphasize a subject and lean on keywords where necessary. It might take a while to get to that point, but no-one rises to the top and stays there without putting in time and effort as a minimum.
AdSense Mistakes #10: Not Being Image Conscious
Catching someone's eye in a subtle way is not always easy. If you are in a crowd and want to get someone's attention, you'll pretty much have to jump around like a total buffoon and shout their name at the top of your voice to even stand a chance. But on the internet, this is not an option. You have to be more subtle if you want to get anywhere beyond the attention of a select few.
With AdSense, the bottom line is obvious - you want people to click the ads on your page. In order for them to click those ads, they need to see them, and to feel that they should click them. Now, you can draw people's attention to the ad by placing a very big image on the page right next to them so they are hard to miss - but Google does not like this, as it is seen as influencing the customer.
It doesn't matter if you are doing it deliberately or accidentally, it is in Google's list of things you must not do, and if you do it you will be ranked lower than you would be otherwise. If you are doing it deliberately, then you need to learn about more reasonable ways to influence them - like powerful content.
We'd all like a short cut to make things easier for us, but the truth is that a short cut which pays out every time is not going to be sustainable. If it were that simple, everyone would do it and everyone would be rich - and any economist will tell you that someone has to lose out for someone to win big. To make money you need to be good at what you do - whatever limitations are placed on you.
AdSense Mistakes #11: Not Knowing Your Keywords
If it seems like there is a lot to remember about AdSense, then there is a reason for that - it is. Sometimes it takes almost as much knowledge not to do the wrong thing as it takes to do the right one. Sometimes you don't have to specifically apply that knowledge, but just avoid going against it. So for anyone who feels that there is a contradiction between "don't rely on keywords" and "make sure you use keywords", it's important to know where the safe ground lies.
You shouldn't specifically rely on keywords because they can be overused and make a mess of your content. However, you need to have them there because they are important in terms of attracting visitors. It's like making a chilli. You need to have some peppers in there or it won't be spicy - but add too many and it's inedible.
What you need to do is use the right keywords, and use them enough to attract visitors. You might wonder what the right keywords are, and there is a ready-made tool to help you with this - the Google Keyword Tool. You have a subject in mind, and you enter this into the Google Keyword Tool, which furnishes you with the highest-paying keywords.
Your task from there is to put these keywords, in large enough quantities, into your content so as to attract advertisers (and to pull in readers who will click on those advertisements. The more attractive the keywords, the more visitors you will get - and your role is to fit these words into good content.
AdSense Mistakes #12 - It's Simple, But Not THAT Simple
The simplicity and automatic nature of AdSense can go one of two ways. Some people can think that, with the seeming simplicity of the program, there must be more to it - and drive themselves mad trying to find the "secret" of success. Others can settle on the fact that it is simple and think that they do not need to do anything to make it pay - and they are just as misguided.
AdSense will do most of the work for you. But that's the point - most does not equal all. If you are building a house, you will leave most of the work to builders, but don't assume that everything has been done and move in or put it on the market, because you need to make sure that it is what you wanted. Don't think that money will come to you without your input, because that's not workable.
There are tweaks and changes that you can make with AdSense, to make the ads fit in better with your content and the look of your website. For example, leaving the default settings on can make the ad stand out a mile, and if you do this on a site that does not fit in with it you might as well just have a sign pointing to the ad saying "THIS IS AN AD. CLICK IT NOW, PLEASE. I WANT MONEY.".
An hour or so spent playing with the settings to make the ads fit in better with the look of your site can mean the difference between lots of clicks and hardly any. Such a small amount of work for potentially a higher return is really not too much to expect. Do yourself a favor by getting it right out of the gate.

Make Money With AdSense - 7 Fast Secrets Reveals How to Triple Your AdSense Revenue

Make Money With AdSense - 7 Fast Secrets Reveals How to Triple Your AdSense Revenue Make Money With AdSense - 7 Fast Secrets Reveals How to Triple Your AdSense Revenue
By Markus Allen
If you rely on Google AdSense to make money with ads displayed on your website, you're probably frustrated with your lower payments lately.
When Google first offered to share their advertising revenue with us in the Spring of 2003, it was pretty easy to bank some nice cash when our visitors clicked on those tiny classified ads displayed on our site...
... But these days, those Google AdSense revenue payments are getting smaller and thinner... even as our traffic grows. Most say it's impossible to make money with AdSense. I felt the same way until a few months ago. Today, I know there's money to be made with AdSense ads... if you know the secrets which I'm about to share with you.
This short AdSense tutorial is going to reveal my best-kept AdSense secrets to DRAMATICALLY boost your Google AdSense earnings. I stumbled upon these secrets by reverse engineering some of the websites that brag about making over $100,000.00 a year.
Tweak your title for higher AdSense revenues
Tweaking the title on your webpage is often the difference between banking a few pennies per click on your AdSense ads to generating over a dollar per click.
Compare these similar phrases:
- DIY home surveillance
- do it yourself home security
Both keyword phrases seem identical... and they are in meaning. But the difference is advertisers are willing to pay 169 times more for webpages themed for "do it yourself home security" (average of $8.47 per click) compared to "DIY home surveillance" (5 cents a click).
Hit the Google AdSense "sweet spot"
My never-ending testing reveals there's a direct correlation between the placement of the AdSense ads and the resulting click through.
When ads are placed in "content zones" (rather than in "advertising zones), you typically generate more Google AdSense revenue. Where is the content zone? It's located just above your content. Most visitors are blind to ads placed in the traditional spots... but those same ads placed above the beginning of our content usually get clicked more often.
Introducing the perfect AdSense templates
While there are currently 12 AdSense templates to display, I find the 336 x 280 (large rectangle) ads convert better than any other format. And don't fret about optimizing for smart phones and mobile devices... my testing shows they hardly ever click on AdSense ads.
Make your AdSense ads blend in with your content
Let's face it, our website visitors HATE ads. Most use ad blockers and their 6th sense to avoid ads. That's why you want to have your AdSense blocks blend in with the overall appearance of your webpage. Have the background of your ads match the background of your webpage. And don't add borders... this tips off your webpage visitors that you're displaying ads.
Triple your AdSense revenues with this one addition
AdSense for Search is MUCH more profitable than AdSense for Content. It's true. In addition to placing standard AdSense template ads, I place a Google AdSense search box at the bottom of my content... and each click averages 317% higher eCPM (effective cost per thousand impressions) than displayed ads.
Dumb down your webpage
A new and very interesting study reveals the way a person arrives from a search engine like Google. It helps us understand how they click on your ads. Specifically, people who search by clicking the button on Google's homepage are 50% more likely to go on to click ads on your page than people who search by any other Google means, according to online ad network Chitika.
Confused? I understand. Let me explain... if Joe Blow searches Google for "hard drive recovery" and completes his search clicking the (Search) submit button, Joe Blow (on average) is 50% more likely to click on your AdSense ads than if he were to search using the [Enter] key.
Why the big difference? One can only guess that sophisticated web surfers are searching without the additional effort of clicking Google's [Search] submit button (while less-sophisticated searchers are clicking the search button -- and clicking on our Google AdSense ads.
Bottom line: It appears advertising click rates are inversely proportional to the "tech-savviness" of the people receiving the ads. So tweak your webpage theme to target beginners, not sophisticated users.
Eliminate unprofitable advertisers in a click
How'd you like to delete the worst advertisers (displayed on your webpages) in just a few fast and easy mouse clicks? Google now offers a best-kept secret way to ban advertisers who don't write profitable ads. It's called "Category Filters" and you find it by logging into your AdSense account and going here:
AdSense Setup --> Ad Review Center
As you see, Google shows you "Filtered Categories" and up-to-date results.
Google AdSense allows us to eliminate categories if they're unprofitable. For example, 8.9% of my ads display "Get Rich Quick" advertisers... nothing wrong with that, but my "% Recent Earnings" is 0.0%. That means I'm displaying ads that are paying me nothing. So I checked it off, clicked the [Submit] button... and now those unprofitable ads are no longer displayed.
There's no reason for you to struggle with making money with AdSense. If you're ready to get more AdSense income now, you might want to grab these make money with AdSense tips, techniques and methods.

10 Ways to Better AdSense Earnings

10 Ways to Better AdSense Earnings 10 Ways to Better AdSense Earnings
By John T Pratt
You can make lots of money monetizing your blog with AdSense if you have quality content, the right keywords, and the right AdSense ad layout. Many people complain they can't make money with AdSense or that it cheapens their site. I will show it how it will not only increase the value of your site, but how it will start building you monthly income!
I monetize my web sites and blogs in many different ways. I see many web sites missing out when it comes to non-invasive ways to monetize your web site or blog, and they don't have to be ways in which you anger your visitors. In fact - good monetization will always compliment your web site, not "cheapen" it. I have also read many articles that debate when to monetize, and there are still some hold-outs that say build up traffic on a site first and then monetize once it gets to a certain level. I'm sorry - that's just BS in my book, and I have the experience to back it up. Monetize your web site from day 1 - PERIOD!
Why? Every post and page is an opportunity to make money. Making money with a web site is like planting a garden. Why would you want to keep plowing the field for 6 months and and keep waiting to plant the seeds? Also monetization is marketing, and marketing takes time and skill. Yes - skill. The more you do it the better you become, so do it from day #1.
Making money online is like a sport or a professional trade.
Ingredients you WILL NEED to become SUCCESSFUL:
  1. Competent Trainers and Mentors
  2. Passion and Drive to Succeed
  3. Organization and Work Ethic
  4. Ability to make 10,000 mistakes and keep going
  5. Good Communications Skills
  6. Practice, Practice, Practice!

Today we're going to talk about monetizing your web site with Google AdSense. If you're already using Google AdSense - read this article anyway and learn how to make more money using AdSense. Click the banner above to join AdSense if you haven't already. By signing up with AdSense you can build code snippets and place ads on your web site.
AdSense Myths:
  • To make any money you need thousands of visitors per day
  • Ads will make a percentage of your visitors leave and not come back
  • AdSense cheapens the look of your web site

You would be surprised how much more money you could be making with some very basic and simple changes to your web site. Think about how much you could be making per day. Just $1 per day is $30 per month, which should more than pay for most basic hosting plans (and then some). Only $5 per day and you're making $150 per month, $10 per day is $300/mo. It adds up quicker than you think. Especially if you have more than one blog or web site to monetize.
AdSense Facts:
  • You can make $1-$3 a day on as little as 20-30 visitors per day
  • A percentage of your visitors quickly leave anyway (the bounce rate) - you can make money on that dead traffic
  • AdSense is so targeted that it's less of an intrusion and more of a service compared to other ads

The first thing you need to understand is where the ads come from. AdSense is fed by Google's other product AdWords. If you haven't used AdWords before - it's where you can pay to drive traffic to your web site - you "pay per click". In the AdWords marketplace - people "bid over keywords". The more competition there is for a keyword, the more it costs and the highest bidder wins the top slot, the next bidder the next slot, and so on. For example it may cost 50 cents per click to get the keyword "designer handbag", but I bet you can get "clay flowerpot" for under a nickel. It's all about supply and demand. The most searched for terms are fought over pretty fiercely. Once keywords are purchased, the AdSense algorithm places the actual ads on web sites - matching them up with keywords and content on web pages. The algorithm is pretty amazing, and in most case will be serving highly target ads to your web site within minutes. If the ads are way off target or inappropriate - you need to re-think your web site setup.
So once a keyword is purchased and an ad is written - it's matched up with a highly targeted web page where it should perform well. It doesn't matter how "busy" or popular that web site is, well performing and paying ads are placed on appropriate pages getting from a dozen to thousands of visitors per day. If you are using high paying keywords in your web site content, you will attract high paying ads. Did you understand that statement? Go back and read it two more times and think about it a minute.
That's right - the key to making money in AdSense is attracting well paying ads. If I have a web site that gets only 30 visitors per day, and 3 per day click an AdSense ad paying 35-50 cents, I can easily make $1 per day from this very low-traffic web site. Of course everyone wants to get more than 30 visitor per day, but all sites have to start somewhere. I'm illustrating how easy it is to make money from day #1. I do this in nearly all the sites I setup. Many of you that have used AdSense for a long time won't believe it, because in my example my AdSense clicks pay extremely high and the click-through-rate (CTR) is 10%. Most sites are lucky to get a 2-3% CTR on AdSense ads, and the clicks usually pay a nickel or less on average.
I said earlier that if you received off target ads your blog or web site layout was possibly not "AdSense optimized". If you want to attract high paying ads and make the most AdSense revenue possible from your existing traffic - I'll give you some very simple rules to follow when writing articles, pages, and posts. If you follow these very basic rules you will not only get more revenue per click with AdSense, but (in the long run) you will also get more visitors, and better search engine listings.
Top 10 Ways To Make More Money from AdSense Using Keywords
  • Obtain a URL with very important keywords in your niche: I can't say enough about this. The #1 reason I have so many domains is because when you build a niche site if the domain has your top 2 or 3 keywords in it - you immediately start getting traffic from post #1. This is very important.
  • Use permalinks, pretty URL's, etc: This is second most important whether you are using WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, or whatever. As soon as you setup your software turn on permalinks, pretty URL's, or whatever it's called so you posts have "site.com/this-is-my-post". Having great keywords in the URL past the top level domain name is only second to keywords in the domain name itself.
  • Find the Best Keywords and Phrases: DO YOUR RESEARCH! Find out how to do keyword research. If you don't know what the best keywords for your niche are - there really isn't much point reading any farther than this...
  • Create a Great Title: When you write a post the title controls much more than you think. Everyday I read great articles with crappy titles. With every title you need to be thinking of using keywords that will be searched for while linkbaiting a title enticing people to click. This can be harder than it sounds, because the best titles are 6-8 words or less. I've gotten better at this over time, but it's just practice, practice, practice to become a master at it!
  • Have an H1 Title first: WordPress natively takes your html post title tag and puts it into an H1 tag as the textual title on the post's web page. If you use another CMS like Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, or something else make sure your Content Management System does the same. Keywords in header tags (especially the first header of the page) carry much more weight than laster in the content areas.
  • Start with a Synopsis Paragraph: Unless you are writing custom meta description tags for every single page the most important area of any post or page after the title is that first paragraph. This paragraph ultimately becomes your description under you title link in search engine results pages. You want to stick to 2 or 3 sentences when possible, or at least place your important keywords there. Remember - what you type will not only determine how well this page comes up in search results, but also how your page is described and why people click!
  • Bold important keywords as you write: As you write your post or article bold keywords and phrases when you are making points. These keywords, combined with your title and synopsis help target ads (and traffic!).
  • Link relevant sources: This is a given, but should be mentioned. Be sure to link only relevant items in your post - it helps target everything.
  • Organize sections using h3 and h4 headings: Using h3 and h4 headers in longer pages and posts is a great way to "sub-title" the page with even more targeted keywords. It's also easier to organize information (and for more people to follow and read).
  • Use keyword laden categories and tags: Just before you publish that page or post, be sure to use great keywords to both categorize and tag it.

Now back to the AdSense ads themselves. First - if you are brand new to AdSense, be sure to visit the newly created AdSense official newbie help at Google and get all the free information that you can. Second you want to get the code for the AdSense ads necessary for placement on your web site. I want you to view the Google heat map (you can find it in the newbie help link). This picture illustrates where a visitor's eyes go first, and where you would get the most clicks. Do you see how the reddest spot on the page is directly above the content? I want you to understand that if you could only place one AdSense ad per page - it should be directly above you content. In addition, the highest paying and best performing AdSense ad is 336x280 large rectangle.
So you're ready to place that ad? Not so quick - you need to "blend" it into the look and feel of your page. When you create it in AdSense setup make the background color the same as where it will be placed on your page. Make the font color and size the same, make the link colors the same too. I personally would never use video ads for any reason - only text. My reasoning on this is that in a 336x280 text ad you normally get 4 text ads, and that's 4 chances to make money. If a video takes up the entire 336x280 block - it's only 1 chance to make money, and it's images and video that can be intrusive to many visitors. IMHO - you would need some type of pop-culture (music, movie, celebrity, joke, media based) web site to be successful with image or video ads. Place one 336x280 AdSense ad directly before your content and one directly after. If you use Google analytics to track your web site - you many already be aware of your "bounce rate". When people come to your site, and quickly leave because they didn't find what they wanted they "bounce". To me a bounce rate of 20-30% is normal. Over 50% is incredibly high.
If you've placed the 336x280 blocks before and after the content your are placing highly targeted ads to soak up your bounce rate. In other words - if 20-30% of my customers are going to leave my site quickly anyway to find what they want - I'd prefer that they click on one of my AdSense ads to find it. I help them find what they need, and I get a "referral fee" for the click. Also visitors that stay awhile on my site many click an ad because they're in the same niche. It's like being in the library and finding the book you need, but seeing others on the same shelf you might also like.
Beyond the two mandatory AdSense blocks I use before and after the content - I often also add a 4 text link unit in a sidebar or a 160x600 skyscraper. How you feel about this is up to you and your layout. If you have other ads or sidebar content that could be earning money - it might be better placed there. But if all you have is the latest posts and some categories - these types of AdSense ads can help you not "leave any money on the table". That means - you might only make a few extra pennies or nickels per day - but if that money was just laying on the table would you just leave it there? Probably not. It adds up over time. Again - especially if you are monetizing multiple web sites.
I learned this term (money on the table) from Joel Comm, whose AdSense eBook I read a few years back just after setting up my AdSense account for the first time. For the first 6-7 months I used AdSense I made no money at all. After I read Joel's book I quadrupled my CTR and went from making pennies per day overnight to $3-$5. One month after reading that eBook I received my first ever Google AdSense check, and I've received one every month since.
So - if your web site or blog consistently using my techniques above you should have no problem earning more money from AdSense. A lot of times you read a great article like this and you wonder how successful it was for the author. Well, it worked for me - last year I made more than $10,000 from AdSense on just a few web sites...

Alternatives to google adsense

Alternatives to google adsense Alternatives to google adsense by Asvins Sharma

Many people have started using Google's AdSense program, but there are some who find it a bit too uncertain or simply not suiting their own requirements from an ad program.

But thankfully for such people, there are many alternatives to AdSense which attempt to alleviate some of its shortcomings. Here is a list of the most noteworthy ones from the lot with a description concerning each one.

AllFeeds (http://www.allfeeds.com/?action=publishers)
AllFeeds has a great pool of online advertisers to choose from. It also features many display formats that you can choose from. These include banners, buttons, XML feeds, DHTML pop-ups and so on. It also features real time reporting of your ad status. The site will mail a check every month, provided that you earn more then $25.00, while rolling over earnings for the next month if you don't. Another interesting thing about AllFeeds is that it integrates with Google AdSense, maximizing your earnings with AdSense.

MarketBanker (http://www.marketbanker.com/mb/sell.php)
MarketBanker allows you the unique possiblity to set the pricing for your site. It also allows you to allow or reject any link that appears on your site (although AdSense itself does a very good job of this as well, with URL filters) There's also a statistics section which will allow you to see how well your site is doing. The ads are small just like AdSense's and they're just as easy to set up. Also, registration for MarketBanker is free.

BidClix ( http://www.bidclix.com/PubTop.html)
BidClix is different because it has advertisers compete for clicks on your site, which in turn is meant to generate the highest possible profits for your page. It also has a very large pool of advertisers which ensure there are plenty of people to choose your site. However, it does require more polish on site contents then AdSense. As most sites, real time statistics are available and its very easy to get started with this service, but it's also very flexible.

Chitika (http://www.realcontext.com/index.php?option=RealContext:+Contextual+Targeting+Engine) RealContext uses Artificial intelligence to retrieve the most relevant ads for your page. And there's an extra feature which makes RealContext unique as well. Keywords are selected based upon which previous selections payed off and which didn't. That means there's a constant feedback process that ensures you gain better revenue from your ads. It also supports blocking certain adds and child-safe filtering and many more options.

AdHearus (http://adhearus.com/webmaster.php)
AdHearus is a very feature-packed contextual ad provider. As with AdSense, advertisements are targeted but it doesn't stop here at all. The ads are very flexible, you can select from text-ads, banners, rectangles, pop-ups, pop-unders or skyscrapers. You can also display your own ads, through rotation, both on your site and on other affiliate sites, which makes AdHearus a hybrid with conventional advertising technologies. There's a very comprehensive on-line real time reporting feature and, as usual with such services, starting out is free and it's a breeze.

Building Blogs To Generate Income With Google Adsense In 6 Steps

Building Blogs To Generate Income With Google Adsense In 6 Steps Building Blogs To Generate Income With Google Adsense In 6 Steps by Leena Martine

Steps To Start Earning From Online Busniess

Find a Niche Market

First you have to find a good niche for your blog. A successful market niche must meet two essential requirements: 1. it is a very popular niche and 2. it is a niche you are passionate about performing. Make it popular means you will have better opportunity to achieve significant traffic, and if you have passion for this subject, will be very easy for you to enter information related to this topic. I've noticed that there are 3 large niches in which a person should focus, or at least one: Health, Love and Money. Difficult to find, right? Well there is a tool created by Google that can help you find your niche and decide: if you are undecided, for example, between talking about dogs that you are passionate about everything related to the canines or recipes for preparing dishes shale and all advised the world to sell his secret recipes ... put these two terms in Google Trends, Google Trends is a tool which graphically shows what are the trends (in terms of search) or buzzwords that Google users seek.

Build a Blog

Although this sounds which is the more complicated, especially because it has no technical skills to do (like me), really is the easiest part of the process, thanks to free platforms such as Blogger.com or WordPress.com. Obviously, you can use blogs to pay, but believe me you do not. In fact, I recommend you start with free blog platforms below you can improve and the pay for them if desired. If you follow my advice and leave it free! I recommend Blogger.com. It is much easier to use and it only took 2 minutes to build your blog, and with a few clicks you can install Google Adsense on your blog (do not forget to take google adsense account approval before installing it on your blog .... Do not worry, it is Free too) thanks to Blooger comes ready to adsense, and as a Google product positioning makes it much easier comparing it with other blogs.

Sign up to Google AdSense

If you do not already have an account with AdSense, you need to register. Obviously, your blog should be reviewed by the team of google adsense and if approved, you can start generating revenue with google adsense. After adsense approval , simply return to the desktop of your blog created in Blogger, and use the catch and release system to install AdSense on your blog. Later, AdSense places ads relevant and related to the content of your blog.

If for some reason your Adsense application was not approved, do not worry. They will send you an email with the reasons for rejection of the application, use these explanations to correct the problem and sign up again. To be honest, it is very difficult to get approval from Google AdSense.

Write quality content

One of the most important elements to build blogs to generate revenue with google adsense is to provide useful, quality content. Without content your blog is nothing. If you want to earn money with your blog, you must provide relevant and valuable information to attract visitors and keep visiting it, be sure to post new content constantly, the more content (quality) you have, the greater chance you have of getting traffic on his blog, and definitely more clicks on your ads.

Send traffic to your blog

Ok, you build your blog, install AdSense, has written valuable content and quality, if you do not let the world know about it, nobody will visit your blog. You need to send traffic to your blog, there are many ways to send traffic to your blog, free and paid. One of my method to get target trafiic is i am hiring adword expert who are providing adword campaign management service adword campaign management service.Sometime you can get benefit by using google promo called adword coupon. I recommend you stay with the free methods that are more durable, and obviously do not cost you anything. Comment on another related blog, publish articles in article directories as a link or direct link to your blog, participate in forums related, use Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Squidoo and other social networks and submit your blog to search engines most recognized and blog directories. The more traffic you send to your site the more money you with google adsense.

Do not stop, Repeat previous 2 steps

You have not finished! In fact, if you want to continue making money with AdSense on your blog, you have to constantly publish fresh content, quality, and keep directing traffic to your blog. You are not the only thing that makes money this way, there are millions of people doing this. So if you do not want to be in the tail of this list of millions, you have to keep working on your blog and getting better every day more and more.

Do not give up, it is important to know that the first few months will not get much money. Many new blogs do not earn much with AdSense. Take some time and hard work and sacrifice ... but once you get it, you taste success and realize how easy it is to make money with Adsense on your blog.

Top Tips For Earning Money With Google AdSense

Top Tips For Earning Money With Google AdSense Top Tips For Earning Money With Google AdSense
By Randall A Magwood
Earning money with Google AdSense is an enigma that a lot of beginners find challenging. They would work on their site for a few hours per day and then check their AdSense income day after day, and the balance still remains on "$0.00". Then one day, they check their AdSense balance, and it says "$1.00".
This makes newbies do the happy dance. They jump for joy and can't believe their eyes. They are then inclined to do more marketing so that they can get more results, but the amount of marketing that they do isn't enough to dramatically improve their $1 into $10 a day. They think that they can just do a little bit of free marketing, and then that would be the end of it. Unfortunately however, this isn't true.
You need to do a lot of things everyday if you're planning on doing free marketing. It should line up in the perfect order of your daily tasks. One of those tasks should be writing everyday. Writing everyday will give you more content, will help to get you found in the search engines, and will make the AdSense ads that appear on your site more relevant to your audience.
Writing everyday isn't hard. Start slow, then work your way up. If you can write 1 article per day, that's a VERY good start. Some people write 1 article every 2 weeks, and wonder why their article marketing efforts aren't effective. You have to continually write everyday. It's content, and content is king online.
If you ever run out of things to write about, see if you can get your hands on some article writing templates. These are templates that help you to inspire more article ideas without you creating (virtually) duplicate content on your website.
With the right article templates, you can quickly and easily come up with a good article, and then use another template to write another good article. And then when you're done, submit them to the article directories.
This method can bring you hundreds of hits to your website - but you have to write a lot. I personally think that article marketing is better than "search engine optimization", because the protocols and rules of search engines may change on you at anytime. Which means that one day you could be on page 1 of a particular search term. And then 4 days later... you discover that your same ranking has been replaced, and now you are on page 3 of search results. It's really unstable.
Making money with Google AdSense can be simplified, but only if you're willing to put in the work that's necessary to make it succeed. Traffic is one of the main things that you should be focused on, and after that, you can do things with your website to help you monetize it even more. Google AdSense is a great start once you have the traffic, and it can bring you endless results for a very long time.
Be sure to take these tips and use them in your online business today. AdSense is a great program and if you're looking for a way to monetize your site without creating any products or experiencing any refunds, then it's a great route to go on. Try it out and see how good it works for you.
Good luck with making money with Google AdSense.

AdSense Application Tips

AdSense Application Tips AdSense Application Tips
By Richard Allen
Google AdSense can bring a lot of additional income from your website, but a simple search around on the Internet and you will see that getting approved is far from easy.
So what kind of things do you need to do to make sure that your application gets approved?
Well you need to have original content and lots of it. Typically if you are running a blog I would suggest that around 60 to 80 posts is a good idea and that they are all your own work. If you just cut and paste articles from another source on to your blog then it is highly unlikely that you will get approved as it will simply look like a made for AdSense site.
It is also a good idea to add an "About us" page, and put a brief bio of yourself up on it, as this shows that you are human and it is not just a spammy blog made with the sole intention of making money from ads.
Adding a "Contact us" page will not do any harm to your application either and will enable anyone from Google that reviews your page to check that the contact details you have applied with are the same as the ones on your website.
You also need to ensure that none of your content infringes any of Google AdSense's policies as you are not allowed any references to porn, violence, race hate etc. If your site has user-generated content then this is something that you will carefully need to manage, both for the initial application and continued compliance, to avoid a ban.
Your site also needs to look reasonably good visually and you should think "If I was an advertiser would I be happy seeing my advert on it?" If the answer is no, then you need to work on the look of your site until you are happy with it. That is the kind of thing that Google thinks about when deciding if your site should be approved for an AdSense account.
Lastly it is vital that you have an AdSense compliant privacy policy and this is one of the things that many website owners forget, yet it is mandatory that your site has one and this has been the case now for over two years. Fail to have one and your application can be rejected, or if you already have a site and it is found not to have one then it could result in a ban.
It may take you a little while to ensure that your site follows these guidelines, however taking the time to follow them is likely to see your AdSense account approved and not rejected. It is also worth noting that it is notoriously hard to get approval once your site has been rejected.
The author has a great many years AdSense experience and offers an AdSense Privacy Policy service, which includes the provision of an AdSense compliant privacy policy (Installation service available for WordPress sites). As well as a great guide on Applying For AdSense. This report includes what you need to do to make sure that your site complies with Google AdSenses Terms Of Service before applying.

Bidvertiser Pay per Click Review

Bidvertiser Pay per Click Review

Bidvertiser is one of the free money making programs with ads pay per click solution for people who are looking for a passive income with little effort. The opportunities and competition in the online advertising industry has opened new ways for publishers to make money from their websites. Bidvertiser is different from the other pay per click (PPC) programs like Google Adsense, Yahoo, Infolinks, Chitika, etc.

The advertisement service of Bpath became different due to its bid per click program. In this program advertisers get a chance to place ads directly on the publisher’s website and bid for an ad space. Advertisers need only pay for the clicks on their ads based on the Bidvertisers’ CPC model and avoids CTR technique.

The main features of Bidadvertiser for publishers are following:

  • Make money from every visitor click on an advertisement.
  • Extra revenue from click conversions – website owner will make extra money when an ad click turns into conversion
  • Lowest payout limit of $10 – Payments are done monthly either by check, bank transfer or PayPal. The minimum payment is $10
  • Highest bidders’ ads will be displayed – this ensures that your website will get maximum revenue than the other PPC programs.
  • Ads layout customization – the easy to use tools helps in customizing the ad layouts to suit your websites’ design and feel without compromising the websites’ quality.
  • Generate detailed performance reports - Publisher Center can generate online ad performance reports which helps in monitoring the page impression rate, clicks, CTR, and the total amount earned.

Bidvertiser was started in 2003 by Bpath with the objective of providing an alternative advertising solution with decision making capacity for advertisers and publishers. In this program advertiser can choose the following factors.
  • Demography where ads are displayed
  • Adspace in the websites
  • Business category of websites
  • Bid rate for the ad space

A publisher has been enabled with the option to choose which ads are displayed in their site. It introduced a new feature to site owners and enabled them to sell their ad space. This made them to overcome the demerits of contextual systems like Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika, etc.

In this advertisement solution factors like quality of ads and pricing are controlled by advertisers and publishers themselves. Website owner can filter the category of ads to be displayed in the site. Bidvertiser offers following types of advertisements for its customers and site owners.
  • All types of standard ad units
  • Banners
  • Button ads
  • Skyscrapers
  • In-line ads

Referral Program

Bidvertiser’s referral program offers an excellent way to earn money by referring new publishers and advertisers. A variety of referral banners, buttons and links are available for displaying in the website.

If an advertiser sign in through the referral link and if he spend $10 for the first time then the referred user will get $5 instantly in the account. If the same advertiser spends $50 then the referrer will get $20 credit. Only the first spending of advertiser will considered for the credit.

For the publisher sign up through referral link will give $10 credit to the referred publisher for the new joiner’s first earning of $10. The same new joiner’s first earning of $50 will give an additional credit of $40 to the referred user.

The new customized toolbar from Bpath is a new way to generate an extra income and user engagement. Site owners can customize a toolbar and promote the download link in their website. When the visitors download and install it the publisher will get money from clicks generated through the toolbar. Moreover publishers themselves can install it and use it.

Companies with more than 5 million monthly page views can become partner of Bpath and provide customized products to publishers and advertisers.

Not joined yet in this new venture. Start making money online by signing up as a publisher. Visit Bidvertiser website for more information.
